Shopping and Entertainment

State Street is a seven-block pedestrian mall offering a diverse array of coffeehouses, music venues, bookstores, boutiques, galleries, and specialty shops.

Monroe Street includes one and a half miles of locally-owned shops.

Madison is home to numerous galleries and museums, many of which are located along the Museum Mile which stretches from the capitol to the University of Wisconsin campus.

Madison also features countless outdoor activities on its five lakes, 260 parks, and 120 miles of shared-use trails and paths.

Traveling to Madison


Flying to Madison

A complimentary airport shuttle is available to and from Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) to all Madison Concourse Hotel guests. Use the courtesy phone in the baggage claim area to let them know that you have your luggage and are ready to be picked up. The shuttle pick-up area is located outside baggage claim, Door 5. Make a reservation at the Front Desk for your return trip to the airport. The airport is 5 miles from the hotel.

Flying to Chicago or Milwaukee

Travelers may also want to consider flying into O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway Airport in Chicago (MDW) or General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee (MKE), then taking a bus to Madison or renting a vehicle.

The Van Galder Bus Line runs several times daily from both Chicago airports to the Memorial Union on the University of Wisconsin campus. One-way fare is $29. Travel time is approximately three hours.

The Badger Coach bus line runs six trips daily from General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) to the Memorial Union on the University of Wisconsin campus. One-way fare is $20.50 online. Travel time is approximately two hours.

For those travelers renting a vehicle, travel time from these airports is slightly quicker than when taking a bus. The convention hotel offers an indoor parking garage, and the current rate is only $10 per night. Additional parking is available across the street at the State Street Capitol ramp (214 N. Carroll Street).

 

Driving to Madison

Madison is just off Interstates I-90, I-94 and I-39.

From I-39 South and I-90 East

  • Exit 132 to merge onto US-51S
  • Turn right at US-151S/East Washington Avenue
  • Turn right onto Webster Street
  • Turn left onto Dayton Street
  • The Madison Concourse Hotel will be on your left

From I-39 North and I-90 West

  • Exit 142A on the left to merge onto W Beltline Highway/US-12W/US-18W toward Madison
  • Travel 12/18W for approximately 4 miles
  • Exit 263 to John Nolen Drive
  • Turn left on S Broom Street
  • Turn right onto Johnson Street
  • Turn right onto Wisconsin Ave
  • Turn right onto Dayton Street
  • The Madison Concourse Hotel will be immediately on your left

From I-94 West

  • Exit 240 to Madison/WI-30W
  • Continue on WI-30W
  • Exit onto US-151S/East Washington Avenue toward State Capitol
  • Travel East Washington Avenue
  • Turn right onto Webster Street
  • Turn left onto Dayton Street
  • The Madison Concourse Hotel will be on your left
