CSCA 2027 ... Community College Interest Group Call for Papers
COMMUNITY COLLEGE INTEREST GROUP
Call for Papers and Panels
Central States Communication Association (CSCA) Annual Convention
Madison, WI
April 7th -11th, 2027
Navigate–Finding Inspiration in Uncharted Terrain
Please join us in Madison, Wisconsin, for the 2027 CSCA convention! The Community College Interest Group is actively seeking proposals for competitive papers, roundtables, panels, and innovative programming.
The Community College Interest Group addresses core member interests by facilitating the exchange of ideas on course design, instructional strategies, and institutional programs. The group actively promotes research-driven instruction, supports co-curricular initiatives, and coordinates programming for the annual CSCA convention. Preference will be given to collaborative panel proposals that feature presenters from multiple institutions.
A range of topics encompassing teaching and learning, as well as discipline-related professional experiences at Community Colleges are welcome. We especially encourage members to reflect on issues related to the convention theme of Navigate! It empowers us to navigate complex communication challenges, using the distinct perspectives of our discipline to map out unique insights into pressing issues and concerns.
Panels: We strongly encourage discussion panels to include 4-7 individuals who would appeal to a broad audience of all college educators. These panels must include a chair to introduce the panelists and to moderate the discussion. Time for audience questions/participation is encouraged. Please include all participating panelists, institutions, and specific topics when applicable. If technology is needed, please specify the needs at the time of submission.
Papers: Only completed papers will be accepted.
- Please include a title and a brief abstract (required).
- Graduate students should type “STUDENT” on the upper right-hand corner of the title page.
- If the paper will be a graduate student debut, please type “DEBUT STUDENT” on the upper right-hand corner of the title page.
- To be considered a graduate student debut paper:
- the author must be a graduate student,
- the paper must have single authorship, and
- the paper must be the author’s first paper to be presented at CSCA.
- If you would like your paper to be considered for the Inclusive Scholarship Award, type “INCLUSIVE SCHOLARSHIP” in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.
- To be considered as an exemplar of inclusive scholarship, the paper must demonstrate academic rigor in the examination of communication and historically marginalized communities/populations.
- If you would like to be considered for this award, please clearly articulate, in at least one paragraph in your abstract, how the respective scholarship explicitly addresses equity and inclusion.
- Additionally, make sure to select the Inclusive Scholarship option when submitting.
- All technology requests must be made at the time of submission.
Deadline for Submissions: October 9, 2026, 11:59 pm CDT
Please send submissions electronically through our online system. Submitters should be certain that all potential presenters create a profile in the CSCA online system as part of their submission. Membership in CSCA is not required to create a profile.
