Borders & Breakthroughs

The Community College Interest Group invites the submission of creative programs, and interactive panels for the 2020 CSCA convention at the Loews Hotel - Chicago O’Hare– April 14th through 19th. The Community College Interest Group invites the submission of competitive papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and innovative programming for the 2020 CSCA convention. Topics encompassing the conference theme of Borders & Breakthroughs are welcome, and we especially encourage members to address issues related to this theme.  

We welcome submissions from everyone with an interest in shaping the future and supporting student success with 2-year colleges including the full-time, adjunct and temporary faculty. We encourage a wide range of formats and topics, especially those developed based on the convention theme of Borders & Breakthroughs. Specific issues of interest to our group include: GIFT-style sessions, instructional innovation, teaching critical thinking, supporting diverse student learners, and other topics of common interest.

Guidelines for Submission

Paper Session: Consist of a group of presenters with (3-5) paper presentations centered on a common theme. Submissions should include an overall session title, session description (75 words), and a rationale statement (250 words or less) as well as author name(s), affiliation, paper title and brief abstract for each paper.

Panels: Discussion panel submissions must include the following: (a) title, (b) description (75 words or less), (c) rationale (75 words or less), and (d) a complete list of participants along with their institutional affiliations, contact information (address, e-mail, and telephone), and if they are CSCA Members. Preference to submissions representing multiple institutions.

All media requests must be made at the time of submission. Please only request media if it is absolutely essential to your presentation. Laptop computers will not be made available for presentations. Your submission implies that you agree to follow appropriate presentation guidelines if accepted.

Submissions must be received online not later than October 11, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. CST for consideration.
