CSCA 2017 Call for Papers Reminder: Women’s Caucus

Women’s Caucus

Hello, Members of the Women’s Caucus. I hope your fall semester is off to a wonderful start. This is a reminder that submissions for the 2017 “Create” conference in Minneapolis is about a month away. I can’t wait to see what wonderful “creations” we have this year!

Call for Papers and Panels

2017 Central States Communication Association (CSCA)

Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota

March 16-18, 2017

Create

The CSCA Women’s Caucus invites submissions of competitive papers and panel proposals examining the role of gender in communication studies. We are particularly interested in submissions that examine feminist topics and/or use feminist methods. Our caucus has a long history of community engagement and activism, and we welcome submissions that address civic concerns. A range of topics are welcome and we especially encourage members to address issues related to the convention theme of Create. Topics of interest include women’s roles/challenges in professional organizations, interpersonal relationships, the political arena, popular culture, women and freedom of expression. In terms of panels, preference will be given to those with panelists representing multiple institutions rather than representing a single institution.

We strongly encourage undergraduate and graduate student papers. Graduate and undergraduate students should type “STUDENT” on the upper right-hand corner of the title page. If the paper will be a student debut, please type “DEBUT STUDENT” on the upper right-hand corner of the title page. To be considered a student debut paper, (1) the author must be a graduate or undergraduate student, (2) the paper must have single authorship, and (3) the paper must be the author’s first paper to be presented at CSCA. Indicate if author(s) are CSCA members. Co-sponsorship between other CSCA divisions and interest groups is strongly encouraged. Our caucus issues a top paper and top panel, both of which receive a monetary award.
