Call for Papers and Panels
2017 Central States Communication Association (CSCA)

Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota

March 16-18, 2017

Create

The Public Relations Division welcomes submissions of papers and panel proposals for the 2017 CSCA Conference. The purpose of the Public Relations Interest Group is to provide an outlet for scholarship, teaching and service pertaining to issues relevant to public relations scholars within the communication discipline. We are particularly interested in the promotion of theory and practice that advances our members as teachers and scholars within the academic and professional public relations community.

Any topic related to public relations is welcome; however, we especially encourage submissions that focus on the theme of the convention: Create. Additionally, we strongly encourage undergraduate and graduate student papers. We also encourage programs that incorporate public relations practitioners through roundtable discussion panels or other formats. A variety of formats are welcome, including competitive paper panels.

Please note the following directions for paper and panel proposals:

Papers: Only completed papers will be accepted. Papers must conform to APA standards and must include a title and a brief abstract. Graduate and undergraduate students should type “STUDENT” on the upper right-hand corner of the title page.  If the paper will be a student debut, please type “DEBUT STUDENT” on the upper right- hand corner of the title page.  To be considered a student debut paper, (1) the author must be a graduate or undergraduate student, (2) the paper must have single authorship, and (3) the paper must be the author’s first paper to be presented at CSCA. Indicate if author(s) are CSCA members. Author names and any identifying information must be removed prior to submission. A Competitive Paper Submission Form must be submitted along with the paper. This form is located on the CSCA website: www.csca-net.org. We will present the Dan Millar Award to the overall top paper. In addition, we will give out the Dan Millar Top Student Paper Award at the 2017 conference. Each recipient is awarded $50.

Panels: Discussion panels, paper panels or other creative panel formats must be submitted using the respective forms located on the CSCA website: www.csca-net.org. Panel submissions must also include the following: 1) a title, 2) a brief, 75-word abstract, 3) a 75-word rationale for the panel. 4) the name of the person responsible for the program, 5) a complete list of each panel participant's name, institutional affiliation, address, phone number, and email address, and 6) a 100 word abstract for each paper or explanation of each participant’s purpose/perspective. Please indicate if participants are CSCA members.

All technology requests must be made at the time of submission. Submissions must be received by October 3, 2016. Please submit all papers and panel proposals electronically as a MICROSOFT WORD attachment to the program planner, Diana L. Tucker at dtucker05@gmail.com
