CSCA Basic Course Interest Group Final Reminders

Dear Basic Course Interest Group Members,

I am excited to report that for the very first time in association history, a Central States Communication Association convention has surpassed the 1,000 participants mark! I hope that the semester is progressing smoothly and that you're weathering the cold temperatures well! We've even managed to get a few snow flurries in Central Alabama so I've gotten a small taste of winter to remind me of my time spent as a Husker in the Midwest.

As you may have seen from the association-wide email blasts you have been receiving, the program is available on the CSCA website and conference pre-registration rates are available through March 15th. However, as you may have learned from association announcements, with our record numbers, association members have completely filled the conference hotel. Please make lodging arrangements as soon as possible, because nearby hotels are sure to fill up soon as well.

You may also be interested in registering for the spectacular short courses and seminars that are available this year. This year, Shawn Wahl has put together a Pre-Conference entitled "Engaging the Basic Communication Course as Our Disciplinary Foundation" that may be of particular interest to you. In this Pre-Conference, a team of Basic Course Directors from across the nation will lead an interactive pre-conference experience designed to focus on the importance of communication skills, teaching assistant training, assessment, course innovation, general education advocacy, and more. This Pre-Conference will take place Wednesday, April 15 from 1:00-3:45 pm so plan to come in early to CSCA and stay through the weekend!

Make plans today to attend CSCA 2015 in Madison, WI which will take place April 15-19, 2015 by renewing your membership, registering for the conference at the pre-registration rate to avoid paying higher rates, making lodging arrangements at a nearby hotel, and registering for a short course/seminar.

As always, please email me at twang@montevallo.edu if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance to you.
